Canada's next prime minister, Mark Carney, has a Ghislaine Maxwell problem on his hands.
Even though Jeffrey Epstein's right-hand woman and former girlfriend will be locked up until 2042, she still has the potential to wreak havoc on Carney's political future.
Carney is the latest politician to be caught in photos with Maxwell, which doesn't bode well for him, considering he and the Liberal party are down 10 points to the Conservatives in the upcoming federal election.
Carney was selected as the leader of the Liberals after Justin Trudeau announced his resignation in January. Still, Carney is an unelected official - having never been voted into office by a popular electoral mandate.
In pictures circulated on social media in January, Carney and his wife Diana were seen alongside Maxwell at the August 2013 Wilderness Music Festival in Oxfordshire, England.
Carney was just a month into his new job as the Governor of the Bank of England but looked quite at ease standing next to Maxwell.
He was seen wearing a big smile in one of the photos, while in another, he was crouching in the grass alongside the woman, who was later convicted for being a child sex trafficker.
Diana Carney also appeared to be chummy with Maxwell, seen walking alongside her in one photo.

A source close to Carney told the Toronto Sun that Carney was not, and is not, friends with Maxwell. Though, the source did acknowledge that Maxwell went to the same high school as Diana Carney's sister.
The source blamed political rival Pierre Poilievre and his campaign apparatus for spreading the reputation-scarring pictures.
'This is another example of how Pierre Poilievre and (adviser) Jenni Byrne have always played politics and it shows again how terrified they are to fight Mark Carney,' the source said.
'As a child, the woman you reference went to the same high school as Mr. Carney’s wife’s sister. While they have bumped into each other in public settings (including the 11-year-old photos you’ve sent), they are not friends.'
DailyMail.com approached the Carney campaign for comment on the matter.
Famous figures who have been seen with Maxwell and Epstein include President Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton and Prince Andrew, who resigned from his public duties in 2020.
The annual music festival the Carneys were seen attending over 10 years ago is also known as 'Poshstock' and featured a luxury spa, gourmet food and heated yurts.
That year and in the years since, the Wilderness Festival has been held at Cornbury Park, which is owned by Lord Rotherwick, otherwise known as Robin Cayzer.

Cayzer is married to Diana's sister Lady Tania Rotherwick, so the Carneys were able to stay in their luxurious manor house instead of camping out under the stars like the vast majority of the attendees.
Maxwell has been described as an old friend of Tania, frequently coming to visit at her homes or at the Wilderness Festival.
The photos predate Maxwell's prosecution, but were several years after Epstein's 13-month stint in prison for soliciting prostitution from a girl under 18.
Maxwell is now serving 20 years in prison after a Manhattan jury found her guilty in 2021 of four separate charges, all related to the sex trafficking of minors.
Federal prosecutors said that from 1994 to around 2004, Maxwell recruited young girls to have sex with Epstein and many of his celebrity clients.
The full list of those clients has never been released, but there's been much noise made about it ever since Attorney General Pam Bondi promised to make the documents public.
The who's who of the right influencer community were invited to the White House to pose for the cameras while holding binders labeled 'the Epstein files.'
Still, the full Epstein files have not been shared with American people, though Bondi did release a redacted version last month.

The charges that put Maxwell away originated on July 2, 2020, a little less than a year after Epstein was found dead in his jail cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in lower Manhattan.

Maxwell received her two-decade sentence almost three years after Epstein's mysterious death.
An attempt from Maxwell to appeal her conviction was denied by the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals in November.
Her lawyers plan to escalate her case all the way up to the Supreme Court, which can choose not to hear it at all.
